The beauty of the Nature Park Fanes-Sennes-Prags can be explored very well with a winter hike. You can either take a leisurely stroll through the snow-covered woods or learn more about the place and its legends on the “Fanes-Sagen” trail. Since most walks are groomed in winter, you can easily make the hikes as a family.
If you prefer to climb higher and admire the mountain scenery from the cabins, you will also find open mountain huts in winter.

Also in winter, some of the huts in the Fanes-Sennes-Prags Nature Park are open and spoil you with homemade specialties. A few tips we have listed below for you!

By the way: a few huts provide sledges to rent. Thus, you can combine the hike through the beautiful winter landscape with a fun descent on the sledge. At San Vigilio and its surrounding there are numerous sledging tracks in the middle of unaffected nature!

Sledging

The Fanes hut is open from end of December to the middle of April. As the hut lies at 2.060 m you can enjoy an incomparable Dolomites scenery from the high plateau.
The starting point of the hike is at the end of the valley at the mountain guesthouse Pederü at 1.548 m. A forest road leads you 500 m up to the high plateau. After the ascent the hut hosts will be happy to strengthen you with hot drinks and delicious food.

At 2.050 m, on the high plateau, you can find the Lavarella hut not far from the Fanes hut. It is a popular starting point for numerous snowshoe hikes and ski tours. In addition, for families you will find some easy walks on the high plateau, which lead through the beautiful, snowy nature park.

The Laverella hut is open from the end of December to the middle of April and can be reached as well from the mountain guesthouse along a forest road.

The Sennes hut at 2.126 m is open from end of December to the middle of April. In addition to numerous snowshoe hikes and ski tour possibilities, the hut impresses with the 3 kilometres long cross-country ski trail, which lead around the hut. Moreover, the access road is very well suited as sledging track. Since the hut can also be reached from the mountain guesthouse Pederü via the forest road, the last stretch into the valley is very steep, which is why it is better to pull the sledge on this part.
